Medical Colleges in India are comparable with the best in the world. Not only medical colleges, medical care provided by top Indian hospitals too is world-class. 1. M. B. B. S. (Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery): The course duration is 5½ years (4½ years of classroom study followed by a year of rotating internship). 3. B. H. M. S. (Bachelor of Homoeopathic Medicine & Surgery): The course duration is 5½ years including one year of compulsory internship. The Homoeopathic Education in India is presently regulated by the National Institute of Homoeopathy.
4. B. A. M. S. (Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery): The course duration is 5½ years including one year of compulsory internship. The Ayurvedic Education in India is presently regulated by the Central Council of Indian Medicine (CCIM).
5. M.D. (Doctor of Medicine): This is a 3year postgraduate degree program in medicine. Doctors possessing M.B.B.S. degree are eligible to for this course.
6. M.S. (Master of Surgery): This is a 3year postgraduate degree program in Surgery. Doctors possessing M.B.B.S. degree are eligible to for this course.
